I'm a composition student and saxophonist in Auckland, New Zealand. The purpose of this blog is to provide informal thoughts on art music. I will try to collate music criticism on recent events and add my personal thoughts.
The name comes from a lecturer's comment on one of my past reviews: "Incredible pomposity"; an inflated sense of self-importance. It made me think - pomposity is almost a requirement to write criticism of any kind - to take it upon yourself to judge the work of others. So while the nature of the comment was somewhat vitriolic, for a composer or music critic it isn't always a bad thing.
